Clear8 Cookie Notice
Website: www.clear8.co.uk
Last updated: 25 October 2026
1. About this notice
This notice explains how Clear8 uses cookies and similar technologies on its website. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.
“Clear8”, “we”, “us” and “our” means the Clear8 website operator. Our contact details are set out in section 9.
2. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies, such as pixels, tags, scripts and local storage, can also store information on your device or access information already stored there. In this notice, we refer to cookies and similar technologies together as “cookies”.
Cookies may be set by us (“first-party cookies”) or by another organisation whose services are used on our website (“third-party cookies”). They may last only while your browser is open (“session cookies”) or remain on your device for a set period (“persistent cookies”).
3. Cookie categories
We group cookies by their purpose:
| Category | What they do | Consent |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Support core website functions, security, network management and features you have specifically requested. Without these cookies, the relevant service may not work. | These may be used without consent only where they are strictly necessary for a service you have requested or for the transmission of a communication. |
| Functional | Remember choices and settings, such as preferences that make your visit more convenient. | We will ask for consent before using these unless a specific legal exemption applies. |
| Analytics and performance | Help us understand how visitors use the website, such as which pages or game features are used, so we can measure and improve performance. | We will ask for consent before using these unless a specific legal exemption applies. |
| Marketing | Help deliver, measure or tailor advertising and promotional content, including through third-party services. | We will ask for consent before using these unless a specific legal exemption applies. |
We will not use non-essential cookies before you have given consent. You can choose whether to accept or reject each non-essential category, and refusing non-essential cookies will not prevent you from using the website’s core functions.
4. Cookies used on our website
The table below lists the browser storage used by the current game. These entries are local storage, not cookies. The site currently sets no analytics, marketing or third-party cookies. PostHog analytics is not active because no analytics key is configured.
| Cookie or technology | Provider | Category | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
pool-pattern-progress-v1 (local storage) | Clear8 | Strictly necessary (game persistence) | Stores game progress, scores, attempt history and daily challenge state in this browser so progress can be resumed. | First-party; persistent local storage (not a cookie) | Until browser site data is cleared |
pool-pattern-introduction-v1 (local storage) | Clear8 | Strictly necessary (game preference) | Remembers that you dismissed the game introduction so it is not shown again. | First-party; persistent local storage (not a cookie) | Until browser site data is cleared |
5. Choosing and changing your preferences
Clear8 does not currently display a cookie banner or provide a cookie-preference settings control. The current game uses only the first-party local storage listed in section 4; it does not set analytics, marketing or third-party cookies. You can remove this browser storage using your browser’s site-data controls. If non-essential cookies or similar technologies are enabled in future, this notice and the consent process should be updated before they are used.
6. Controlling cookies through your browser
Most browsers let you view, block or delete cookies through their settings. You can usually find these controls in the browser’s privacy or security settings. Check your browser’s help pages for instructions.
If you block or clear local storage, the game may not remember your progress or that you dismissed its introduction. There is currently no separate cookie consent tool or settings button on this website.
7. Personal data and third parties
Some cookies may collect or use information that is personal data, such as online identifiers or information about how you use the website. Where this happens, we will handle that information in accordance with applicable data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Third-party cookies may be set by providers whose services appear on or support the website. Their use of information may also be governed by their own privacy information. Details of the providers we use should be listed in the table in section 4. Further information about purposes, lawful bases, retention, sharing, international transfers and your data protection rights is available in ourPrivacy Policy.
8. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice when our website, cookies or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page, with its update date shown at the top.
